Commission on English Language Program Accreditation

National Recognition

American English Language School is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) for the period August 2019 through August 2029 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions.

CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S.

Ensuring Student Safety

Providing a safe environment for our students is of the utmost concern for AELS and is considered when making every hiring decision. Prior to hiring any new employees, AELS requires that a background check be performed on the applicant.

Live Scan Technology

We use Live Scan fingerprinting to scan fingerprints and palm prints for a comprehensive criminal history record for all our ESL teachers.

Dual Agency Verification

Every staff member undergoes thorough background checks with both the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

International Student Visa Support

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and oversees the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), an online system used to maintain information on F-1 nonimmigrant students.

American English Language School is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.

California State Approval

The BPPE monitors the operations and standards of private education facilities to maintain quality and protect students in California. AELS has been approved to operate by the BPPE and remains in compliance with the BPPE's standards. Approval means compliance with state standards as set forth in the California Private Postsecondary Act of 2009.

TESOL-Certified Teachers

We have members of TESOL that bring a level of professionalism not found in all language schools.

Teachers receive annual training through TESOL conferences to stay current in the field of language education.

TOEFL Testing Center

The TOEFL assists in determining whether international students are proficient in English to attend college or university in America.

We are a certified TOEFL testing center and administer tests approximately two to three times per month.

I-20 Form Issuance

The I-20 form is issued by an educational institution and allows students to apply for an F-1 visa.

Eligible students may be issued Form I-20 by American English Language School in accordance with Student and Exchange Visitor Program regulations.
