Most students are used to only hearing about their academic progress as assignments and tests are graded and returned. Even then, they will usually only get an overall percentage or letter grade. At American English Language School, we want you to be aware of every aspect of your grade and how your participation and effort are affecting your overall success.
In short, we want you to understand WHY you are getting the grades that you are. To make it more convenient for you, our teachers write daily comments on our MyAELS system about what we practiced in class that day, how well you are participating in class (a critical key to improvement), and feedback about your strengths and weaknesses.
If you are not doing as well as you had hoped in a unit, you can look at your daily comments to see how you can improve. Teachers will also let you know in the comments when they are seeing improvements that even you may not recognize. All of this is valuable feedback to help you assess where you are in your language learning journey. We don’t want there to be any surprises in your grades, only successes!
