Common Types of Homes

Common Types of Homes

This week, our students will learn about different types of housing, rooms in a home, and some of the furniture we put in our rooms. There are four common types of homes here in California: houses, apartments, mobile homes, and condominiums or condos. It is common that all homes have a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room. Some homes are bigger and have dining rooms, front yards and back yards. This week we will learn to look at advertisements for housing and learn to pick the best home based on needs first and then wants.

A NEED is very important and required. A WANT is a wish or something we hope for. When we are looking for our future home, we make a list of our NEEDS. This means that our home must have these requirements, such as: a garage, a yard, or a certain number of rooms for the number of people in our family. When looking at ads for homes, it is important to know some abbreviations. A/C or air: air-conditioning ba: bathroom bd/bdrm: bedroom nr: near     pd: paid           utils: utilities housing

Once you have picked a home, it is time to fill the home with furniture. Beds for sleeping, dressers for clothes, couches, tables and chairs are essential items we usually have in our home. Below are pictures of furniture we buy and keep in our homes.
